CENV is the epitome of “giving” which is embodied in professionalism. CENV Director,Jackie Phan, is amazing. Her heart and smile expands the more she freely gives to help others. I had the privilege to work with CENV’s Winter Wonderland program 2015. They served numerous families in need of Thanksgiving Meals and Christmas Toys. Let me share, one story in particular, involved a single parent and her daughter. All the toys under their Christmas tree were provided by CENV. The gratitude voiced by this single mother was moving and heartfelt. A father who did not have Thanksgiving dinner for his family was blessed when he returned home and the CENV volunteers had delivered a Thanksgiving meal, which included a full dinner, dessert and extra food for the family. Families are still voicing their gratitude weeks later. Thank you CENV for your “hearts of gold” in making the holidays wonderful. I loved working with such a professional group of people. Thank you again for all that you do in helping others.

Community Empowerment Northern Virginia (CENV) is here for anyone who needs support, guidance, and most importantly, help. CENV is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to supporting less fortunate and low-income families. They have holiday assistance programs, holiday donation programs, after-school programs, summer enrichment programs, and adult programs (as in ESL classes, financial literacy and nutrition). CENV focused on our seasonal holidays, reaching out to families in need of food and gifts. CENV has provided Thanksgiving meals, as well as winter wonderland shops (for holiday gifts and necessities) for children and parents. One of our most memorable events with CENV is the Thanksgiving Community Dinner. Hundreds of families came together to support each other and enjoy the meal. It was a tremendous event and there is no way our school could have accomplished this without CENV. CENV has helped our students thrive in our school community. They have assisted our students and families feel safe and secure by providing various programs. Without these needs being met our students would not be able to thrive academically. Countryside ES is grateful for our continued relationship with CENV and we look forward to growing this partnership in the future. CENV has benefitted profoundly from their collaborative relationship with Countryside Elementary. Several high needs families in the North-Eastern Loudoun region had the opportunity to learn about and connect with CENV. Through word of mouth, we are hopeful that CENV’s mission and vision to help communities in Northern Virginia will expand and grow. The Countryside Family also donated a plethora of food and canned goods. Together Countryside and CENV will continue to collaborate and live up to the words, “The highest of distinction is service to others” (King George VI).
